As you will have read on our web site, “The Cantiamo Girls Choir of Ottawa spontaneously sprang up to fulfill the need for a choir at the 2003 Writer’s Fest in Ottawa. This sparked a string of invitations that kept this group busy before it even had a name!” Believe it or not, we have been “kept busy” for nearly 10 years! We will celebrate our 10th Anniversary in June 2013. Our 2012 – 2013 season is just about fully booked. We will do joint concerts with at least three other area choirs as well as present our own Christmas concert and spring concert. Our spring concert, on Sat. June 8th will be an extra special celebration which will include alumni from the past 10 years. The educational outreach program will still include the teacher workshop, school tour and Music Monday and the strong possibility of one other very exciting element which is still to be confirmed at the time of this newsletter. The 2012 – 2013 choir will be travelling to Newfoundland to participate in Festival 500 (www.festival500.com) from July 3 – 11 and with us we will bring along any alumni from our past to sing with us in concert in Newfoundland. Festival 500 was the first big event for Cantiamo and we want to celebrate our 10 years by participating in this excellent festival once again. We will be doing our best to contact all past Cantiamo girls so they can be included in celebrating our first fabulous 10 years!
