It’s the most wonderful time of the year: food, decorations, music, concerts, caroling, Santa, and of course, Christmas movies. There are few things I can think of that I love more. All year, I look forward to this special time but – without a doubt – the thing I look forward to most at Christmas is our annual Cantiamo Christmas Concert. The feeling is a bit like a wonderful Christmas dinner, but with music, and with family stories around the tree. But it is more!

This year, our concert was held at Dominion Chalmers United Church on Saturday, December 6, 2014. Having been in the choir for close to 6 years now, I can say with certainty: nothing could possibly be better than getting to perform with my Cantiamo family at Christmas time, and getting to share beautiful music with an audience comprised of family and friends.
The church, while beautiful to perform in, isn’t what makes this event special. Neither are the decorations, the fancy dresses, nor the especially good jam that the choir sold to raise funds. It is the warm feeling that I get when I walk in and see my fellow choristers milling about and chatting before rehearsal. It is the feeling I get when we have finally learned our music, and get to connect with both our audience and with each other, at this special time of year.
I wish I could share this experience with everyone, so that all would know what it is to be a part of such a special group. I can hope, however, that through our music, we might give everyone who shares it with us a taste of our vibrant Christmas spirit.
