Kathy Goodsell is an educator with over 25 years of teaching experience. She has taught in the classroom, directed children’s choirs and musical theatre, and organized arts celebrations involving all students and staff at her school, including a collaboration with the Ottawa Chamber Music Society and Cantiamo Choirs of Ottawa on the year-long Listen Up! project. Her school choirs have performed with Rag and Bone Puppet Theatre and participated in Choralfest and Music Monday at the NAC and Ottawa City Hall. In 2015, Kathy received the Arts Recognition Award for Elementary Music from the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.
Kathy holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Music degree, a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Education. She has attended choral technique workshops presented by Jackie Hawley and by the Voice Care Network at St. Paul’s University in Minnesota, USA. Kathy is a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Choir and she continues to volunteer with the children’s choir at Adrienne Clarkson Elementary School.
Kathy is delighted to join the Cantiamo Choirs of Ottawa organization where she will continue to teach and advocate for the importance of music education in the lives of children in a supportive and nurturing learning environment.
