This workshop is directed towards teachers or community choral conductors who want to learn more about vocal and choral techniques. You will be working on a variety pieces that can be used in school or community choirs. Founder/Conductor of the Cantiamo Girls Choir, (and former music teacher with the OCDSB as well as former Artistic Director of the Ottawa Children’s Choir) Jackie Hawley, will discuss the healthy singing voice, basic conducting skills, choral techniques, and appropriate repertoire. Participants will have the opportunity to conduct the Cantiamo Girls Choir (ages 12 – 19) and receive feedback from both Jackie Hawley. Participants will also receive a repertoire sample package, some of which will be studied during the workshop.
Notes: Bring a bag lunch. Light refreshments, coffee and tea will be provided. Keep it green and lug a mug! Bring a music stand if you have one.
