A program for Mother’s Day! This collaboration with Hypatia’s Voice Women’s Choir is a perfect expression of the wonderfully woven generational bond between the two ensembles. Mother and daughter Jackie and Laura Hawley co-founded Cantiamo Girls Choir as conductor and accompanist fifteen years ago. Hypatia’s Voice Women’s Choir, led by founding director by Laura Hawley since its inception in 2015, counts in its membership many Cantiamo alumni, and several choristers now have daughters singing in Cantiamo. As if to complete this lovely circle, Laura’s mother Jackie sings in Hypatia’s Voice! The program pays tribute to the wonder and mystery of mothering, and celebrates the powerful bonds we share with our mothers, our grandmothers and great-grandmothers, our children. You will hear beautiful works by composers such as Gwyneth Walker, Ysaye Barnwell and Andrea Ramsey, and you don’t want to miss the Ontario premiere of Kathleen Allan’s stunning Primary Colours, composed for Elektra Women’s Choir in 2017 . There is something for everyone in this concert, which is sure to bring you laughter, tears, and many touching moments that will inspire the heart.
