Since 2003, Cantiamo Choirs of Ottawa has provided an exceptional choral music experience for hundreds of children and young people, and has earned a valued reputation for the quality of the music instruction, the diverse repertoire, and the talent and passion of the conductors and accompanists of the choral education staff. This is an engaging environment! Our choristers sing in multiple languages, study a variety of music styles and cultures, and are provided unique opportunities to perform original works from Canadian composers.
If you are new to us you will soon learn that Cantiamo is more than just a choir. We are also a “community” of like-minded voices. We believe in the importance of choral education, of providing an opportunity for young people to learn, perform and be challenged in a supportive environment, and to share knowledge, experience, and our passion for music.
Our motto is: Music. Leadership. Community. We strive to incorporate this motto into our choral training, our mentorship program, our performances, and our active participation in the greater music education community.
Cantiamo Choirs of Ottawa includes four choirs, beginning at age 5. Many of our choristers have journeyed through the developmental levels, and by the time they reach the Cantiamo Girls Choir they have grown significantly in their vocal skill, music literacy and artistic expression. Several of our Cantiamo Girls Choir members perform in other choirs, music groups and are students in the Arts Canterbury High School vocal music program. Our Cantiamo Alumni (hyperlink) have gone on to successful careers in music education, choral music conducting and every other possible field of study – we hope they all keep singing!

Cantiamo Girls Choir: Ages 13-19, Girls Only. By Audition or Invitation

Cantiamo Training Choir: Ages 8-11, Girls and Boys. Open, no audition necessary.
Cantiamo Primary Choir: Ages 5 – 7, Girls and Boys. Open, no audition necessary.
Hear Us Sing! Cantiamo prepares two self-produced, professional concerts each year. Guest musicians are often a part of these concerts and offer an exciting element. These events are important for the development of the choristers and allows Cantiamo to showcase our beautiful music. In addition, Cantiamo performs in smaller venues within our community, and as guests with other performing artists, groups and choirs. The Cantiamo Girls Choir is routinely invited to national and international music festivals. While these may be exciting opportunities, we only pursue this level of travel with the full support of the choir members and families.
