Our Training Choir Conductor

Leslie Bricker is an award-winning music educator, with over 35 years of experience directing children’s choirs, Orff ensembles and music theatre. She has designed and implemented Music programs in elementary schools with children from 3-14 years of age in both Ottawa and Toronto, and has recently retired as an elementary music specialist with the Ottawa-Carleton Board of Education.

In addition to her musical activities with children, Leslie has extensive experience in teacher-training. She has taught courses in music education at universities across Canada, and presents workshops on the Orff philosophy of music education at provincial and national music and arts conferences across Canada. A published author in local and national music journals, Leslie has written numerous articles on the links between music, language, drama and dance.

As a Past-President of Music for Children – Carl Orff Canada – Musique pour enfants, Leslie serves on the National Advisory Board, working on issues relating to advocacy for quality music education for all children in Canada.

Leslie holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Toronto, along with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Ottawa. She has Master Class certification in the Orff philosophy music education, and has studied Choral Technique and Dance in both Canada and the United States.
